Abstract

There is limited data available on treatment approaches for cooccurring SUD and BPD. Considering that co-occurring BPD may be prevalent in more than 50% of those seeking SUD treatment and there is limited clinical understanding about the most effective treatment approach for these clients, a review of the existing evidence was identified as an important first step. The aim of this article is to systematically review current evidence regarding effective treatment options for co-occurring SUD and BPD and discuss the clinical implications of these findings for the alcohol and drug field.
