Abstract

From the Ridiculous to the Sublime is a project that examines the relationship between perception and reality. The ridiculous alludes to the proposal made by the work that our perception of reality is an illusion. The sublime is a recognition of this expressed as a state of being in which our experience of reality, is as though we are interconnected with all things. In this state reality occurs as spaceless and our individual self is dynamically related to everything that surrounds it.b These corresponding ideas are explored in the context of representational painting and its relationship to virtual reality.
