Abstract

One of the most enduring clichés of sport is ‘the level playing field’ especially in the realm of team sports involving any issues of race relations. The contemporary participation of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders in Australian sport is frequently celebrated as an indicator that the nation is progressive in race relations.
