Abstract

A new crossed hot-wire calibration technique is described that uses the total stress distribution found in fully-developed turbulent pipe and channel flows as an input. No separate calibration for the angular sensitivity is required. The experimental results from fully-developed turbulent pipe flows using the new calibration method are compared with those obtained using the conventional angle calibration technique, and good agreement is demonstrated.
