Abstract

Bounds for the deviation of a real-valued function f defined on a compact interval [a, b] to the generalised chord (v (b) − v (t))/(v (b) − v (a))· f (a) + (v (t) − v (a)/(v (b) − v (a))· f (b) , where v : [a, b] → R and v (a) ≠ v (b) , that connects its end points (a, f (a)) and (b, f (b)) are given. Applications for normalised positive linear functionals are provided as well.
