Abstract

Portal was commissioned by the City of Sydney for its Ultimo Library in Sydney following a competitive process. A light based installation it presented a portal into a world where landscapes are in constant colour change. This light based installation made use of our research into colour creation via modulating the molecular structure of plastics via physical and chemical means. The creative work was designed with a younger audience in mind and a teacher's resource was created to assist in passing on information relating to the light science that underpins the creative work. This creative work is now a part of the Council of Sydney's portfolio of public art

Additional Information

Skunk Control is an interdisciplinary team of artists, engineers and scientists creating sensory installations. The group collective from the College of Engineering and Science at Victoria University formed in 2012.
