A Primer on the Knowledge Economy

Houghton, John and Sheehan, Peter ORCID: 0000-0001-9450-8371 (2000) A Primer on the Knowledge Economy. Working Paper. Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia.

Abstract

This primer is intended as a brief guide to the Knowledge Economy for people in business and government who need a succinct summary of its major features and implications. It draws on research undertaken at CSES over the last few years, on the work of the OECD and on a rapidly growing international literature, and aims to provide a synthesis. We address the following questions: - What is the knowledge economy? - What is new about the 'New Economy'? - What does it mean for Australia? - What might we do to meet the challenge?
