The author has demonstrated Smalltalk as a medium for explorations in image processing by creating within it an expandable environment for image processing. He has produced two versions: one for DOS, and one for Windows which is hereafter referred to as ImageLab. The Windows version, ImageLab, may be used in two ways:
as a stand alone by a non-programmer for whom the existing functionality is adequate; or within the Smalltalk environment by a programmer who might wish to expand the
functionality.
