Contains a critical essay on Dorothy Hewett and her work. 'Dorothy Hewett is a poet of the city with deep roots in the country. Her memories of childhood in the country have the "mythical quality" of wholeness that provides the goal of her politics. Even in her childhood memories however there is already a division introduced by the greed of the men who displaced the Aborigines so that they themselves might settle and build the gardens for their children. This division is recalled in her poem 'Testament', where she acknowledges her love for these men.'
