Peripato Telematikos began with walking as a means to explore and investigate
the places and spaces we inhabit and our relationships with them. The research
asked how can peripatetic art practices inform the methodologies used by
individuals to (re)present their environs and what media art practices would be
suitable to support these (re)presentations? The project sought to provide ways
for audiences to engage with these walks in real time through their
documentation by mobile phones. In order for this to happen I created a platform
for the reception and viewing of the walks as they occurred. One interpretation of
what was created by the documentation of the walks was what I termed a
‘subjective mapping’ of place. As a result, the final viewing interface was
constructed with the intent that it would support the creation and viewing of
subjective mappings.
