Little published information is available on the levels of soil nutrients and soil
moisture on remnants of native (Basalt Plains) grasslands.
This study investigated the association of soil nutrients and moisture with stands
of the native grass Themeda triandra (Kangaroo Grass) and the noxious weed
Nassella trichotoma (Serrated Tussock). Both mature and immature (i.e. recently
burnt) stands of T. triandra and N. trichotoma were investigated, on disturbed and
undisturbed soil.
