This paper builds on a 2001 study by the author to examine website development options for small businesses. The recommendation then was that small businesses should consider a number of factors when comparing website hosting options. The landscape has since changed quite a bit, and this paper examines a number of different website development options currently available to small businesses. Whilst the types of options that are available have altered, the basic premises of the earlier studies remain. Asd the complexity of websites increase, so should the efforts by small business operators to consider more than the costs of setting up and maintaining the website.
