Permissions from publisher website at mentioned link state "Can I include/use my article in my thesis/dissertation? Yes. Authors can include their articles in full or in part in a thesis or dissertation for non-commercial purposes." 

*Papers which form chapters 3 & 4 are not published versions and it is not specified if they are pre-prints or posts prints. Green on SHERPA/RoMEO. Pre-print and post-print archiving permitted. Conditions of published version acknolwedgement and DOI inclusion. Pages added to reflect this information.

*Papers which form chapters 5 & 6 are submitted versions of papers (pre-prints), both of which at this time have not been formally published (based on an internet search).
