Thesis by publication.

*Chapter 7 is the submitted version of an Elsevier publication (pre print). These can be shared "Authors can share their preprint anywhere at any time." https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies/sharing#definitions

*Chapter 4a, 6a - CRC press - book chapter/conference paper. No permissions located that permit inclusion. Papers were removed, and pages inserted with title and link to full-text.

*Chapter 5 - published by Emerald. Version included is not the published version. Accepted manuscript permitted.
