A kinetic work that takes how light is diffracted at a micro scale (as in nature with butterflies and the exoskeletons of certain insects) and creates it at a macro scale. In this installation a series of large kinetic butterflies gently flutter their wings (this is achieved mechanically through mechanical technology). As they do this, the optical materials we have produced, fracture white light into a infinite spectrum of colours. This diffraction process creates colours through structure rather than via pigmentation. The butterflies represent the notion that like white light there are complexities to questions and to their answers.
