A survey of the fire safety systems for high-rise office buildings has been carried out to determine the reliability of fire safety system components in Australia. This survey is particularly intended to provide information on the reliability of various fire safety systems in the buildings. The survey shows that none of the fire safety system is 100% reliable. However, the failure probability of most of component is less than 30% except the failure probability of fire smoke doors is very high as these are often wedged open. The data from this study will provide useful information to fire safety engineers for comparing fire safety systems and components
