As a general comment, looking at a political world map before World War I and comparing it with today's map it could be observed that there was a significant increase in the creation of new sovereign nations. Logically, therefore, an international trader would have to understand and potentially deal with more domestic laws which would add to the ever increasing complexity of engaging in world trade. However, this is not so. Legal scholars - specifically Ernst Rabel - have understood that there is a need to simplify and streamline the legal environment beyond mere transplantations of legal systems. Governments and world organisations like UNCITRAL have taken up the challenge. As a consequence an increase in the drafting of conventions, treaties and agreements has taken place which is now a feature of the legal landscape.
