Famous in Shanghai
Dodd, Sue and Dodd, Phil (2006) Famous in Shanghai. [Show/Exhibition]
Abstract
Depicts Sue and Phil Dodd walking in a non-descript street in Shanghai. Preceded by snippets of Chinese television and static, the extremely short video seems to testify to the fact that celebrity is a status that can be assumed as much as it is bestowed.
Additional Information | The independent art project Satellite brought together a distinguished international team of more than 50 eminent artists and curators from China, Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia. Satellite was timed to coincide with the 2006 Shanghai Biennale and included sculpture, video, film screenings, performance, installation, painting and video. Australian artist and producer Richard Thomas selected 12 of Australias most adventurous and respected emerging and established artists to participate in this project. Satellite was one of the largest and most significant representations of Australian contemporary art in to date. |
