Abstract
Contains a review of John Milton’s dramatic poem Paradise Lost. Milton has determined to write an epic poem which will embody his understanding of the meaning of the whole of human existence. A great deal of twentieth century criticism of Milton's Paradise Lost revolves around the feeling that the poet has failed in his self-appointed task of justifying God's ways to men. Much of this criticism, however, seems to neglect the enormity of Milton's undertaking.
