Abstract

Summarises new export compliance measures and their underlying rationale. The past twenty years have seen great advances in international trade facilitation, with globalisation really taking hold in the past decade. The changing trading environment has created the need for more efficient and streamlined systems to cope with the sheer amount of processing volume that old systems could not longer accommodate. The new regimes have been implemented with seemingly a greater degree of operational capacity, but have placed added compliance requirements on users. Exporters are now subject to new rules and business process changes that require careful consideration. The wrong decision could spell dire consequences for an organisation and mistakes could prove very costly.
