Abstract

We consider the n-dimensional conjectured inequality from [1] which generalises the 2nd problem given at the most recent IMO (Washington, DC 2001) [2]. This conjectured inequality is finer than inequalities based on the AM-GM inequality or convexity properties separately. Here we establish a more general result, which in turn shows the validity of the conjecture in [1]. The method is elementary and allows us to give further extensions to a large class of functions.
