Abstract
Changes in labour markets, employment and remuneration practices and the enormous growth in the superannuation and financial services industry has fuelled debate as to the level of financial literacy needed by people to survive and generate wealth for retirement. This study reviews the literature on financial literacy generally and particularly for Australian University students, and reports on an empirical study of opportunities for undergraduate students to acquire financial literacy knowledge and skills at three universities in Victoria. Findings point to major gaps in opportunities to acquire financial literacy knowledge or skills for many students and raise a number of questions for further research
