Abstract
The author has benefited from comments provided by an editor, two anonymous referees and participants at the 2nd International Conference on Educational Economics, in Athens, September 2008. Any remaining errors are the responsibility of the author. This study uses unit record data from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey. The HILDA Project was initiated and funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) and was managed by the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research (MIAESR). The findings and views reported in this article, however, are those of the author and should not be attributed to either FaHCSIA or MIAESR.
