Abstract

There has been limited investigation into human resource management (HRM) practices in the health sector and their impact on organisational outcomes. This paper incorporates a review of the academic literature, with interviews and discussions with HR practitioners and an analysis of an action research process conducted in the Victorian public health care sector. The paper illustrates how action research can be conducted in order to influence government policy and improve people management practices in the public health sector.
