Abstract

In recent years, there has been a practice of young people engaging with senior secondary study in a part-time mode, even though this does not fit with traditional undertandings of the 'student' or the 'school'. In this chapter, we draw upon a recent Australian Research Council project 'Pathways or cul-de-sacs? The causes, impacts annd implications of part-time senior secondary study' (2005-2007, #LP0455760), which investigated this national trend.
