Abstract

Student centred approaches to teaching and learning in mathematics is one of t he reforms currently being advocated and implemented to improve mathematics outcomes for students from low SES backgrounds. The models, meanings and practices of student centred approaches explored in this paper reveal that a constructivist model of studen t centred teaching and learning is being promoted and implemented with some success. The ways in which teachers and leaders are being supported through network and school based professional learning are described.
