Abstract

This kit defines and prescribes evaluation and monitoring procedures which are capable of being applied by project managers of pilot projects (after workshop training) and of being used for monitoring reports as inputs to the implementation review of the pilot projects. The kit is a 'recipe' manual. It explains evaluation simply and practically, outlines common core features of evaluation practice for all Australian Vocational Certificate (AVC) pilot projects, including feasibility studies, and it provides additional evaluation tools which may be useful for different types of projects. It focuses on three areas: (1) planning an evaluation; (2) doing evaluations; and (3) using the outcomes of the evaluation. Included in the publication is a resources package, containing bibliography, standards, further questions, techniques for collecting information, information about the AVC system and the National Framework for the Recognition of Training (NFROT) and a paper by I. Stronach entitled 'Practical evaluation'.
